Come usiamo i tuoi dati

VistaNarrata ti racconta i luoghi intorno a te. Qui ti spieghiamo tutto, in modo semplice.

Versione 1.0 · Ultimo aggiornamento: 5 ottobre 2026

In breve

I registri tecnici

6.1.c GDPR).

Intelligenza artificiale e voce sintetica

Link Viator e proposte commerciali

6.1.f GDPR).

Google Cloud (Vertex AI)Scrive i racconti.
I tuoi dati escono dall'Unione Europea?

I tuoi diritti

Puoi chiederci in qualsiasi momento di:

  • sapere quali dati abbiamo su di te e riceverne una copia;
  • correggerli o cancellarli;
  • limitarne l'uso o opporti al trattamento;

Scrivi a privacy@ingeniare.it.

11 GDPR).

Se pensi che qualcosa non vada

Scrivici prima a privacy@ingeniare.it: proviamo a risolvere subito.

How we use your data

VistaNarrata tells you the stories of the places around you. To do that it uses your location, and very little else. Here is everything, in plain words.

Version 1.0 · Last updated: 5 October 2026

At a glance

  • We use your location only to find nearby places. We don't store your precise location and we don't track where you go.
  • The stories are written with artificial intelligence and read by a synthetic voice. We send the AI only information about the place, never data about you.
  • Your phone only talks to our server, in Italy. To fix technical problems we keep logs for 30 days. They don't contain your IP address, and the location in them is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account needed. Your language and preferences stay on your phone, not with us.
  • Some links to Viator are affiliate links: if you book, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't build profiles about you and we don't use analytics tools.
Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Ingen.IA.re S.r.l., the company that created VistaNarrata.

What data we use and why

Your location

When you open VistaNarrata, your browser asks for permission to use your location. We need it to find interesting places near you. In "on the move" mode we update it at intervals, to suggest places along the way.

Your location only reaches our server, in Italy. We search for nearby places from there: your phone doesn't send it to any other service. We use it only at the moment of the search, we don't store it precisely and we don't build a history of your movements.

Why we can do this: it is needed to provide the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You can withdraw the permission at any time in your browser or phone settings, but without location the app works only partially.

Technical logs

The app records some technical information, to see if something is not working. These logs don't contain your IP address or your exact location: only a temporary session code, which disappears when you close the app, and a location rounded to about 100 metres. We delete them after 30 days.

The component that routes traffic to the app (the so-called reverse proxy) doesn't log access, and our database doesn't store IP addresses. We don't use external CDN or anti-bot services, which could log them on our behalf.

Protection against attacks

There is only one case in which we keep IP addresses: the server firewall records the traffic it blocks, meaning automated intrusion attempts coming from the internet. Normal app traffic doesn't end up in this log. This data is also deleted after 30 days.

Why we can do this: we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f) and Recital 49 GDPR).

What stays on your phone

Some information is saved only on your device and is never sent to us: the language you choose, the categories of places you like and the groups of commercial suggestions you want to see. While you use it, the app also remembers the places you have already seen so as not to suggest them again, and forgets them when you close it. See "Cookies and browser storage" for details.

If you write to us

If you send us an e-mail, we use your address and your message only to reply to you.

Why we can do this: to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for privacy requests, to meet a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Artificial intelligence and synthetic voice

The stories you read and hear are written by an artificial intelligence system: a Google Gemini model, used through the Google Cloud Vertex AI service. The AI works from open sources such as OpenStreetMap, Wikidata and Wikipedia. The voice you hear is synthetic, generated with the open-source models Kokoro and Piper.

We send the AI only information about the place to be described: its name, the type of place, its Wikidata code, the OpenStreetMap descriptions and the facts gathered from Wikidata and Wikipedia. We never send your location, your IP address or any code that identifies you or your phone. In practice, Google receives a request like "tell me about Bergamo Cathedral".

The AI makes no decisions about you and doesn't profile you. Your data is not used to train artificial intelligence models.

AI can make mistakes. For opening hours, prices, access and safety, always check official sources.

Viator links and commercial suggestions

VistaNarrata is free. To support it, when a story starts we sometimes show you Viator tours, tickets and experiences linked to the area of the place you are listening to. We don't profile you to do this.

How suggestions reach you

We request the suggestions and their pictures from Viator ourselves, from our server, which stores the pictures and shows them to you from our own domain. Your phone only talks to our server: until you tap a suggestion, Viator and Tripadvisor, the group Viator belongs to, don't receive your IP address or any code that identifies you or your phone.

We don't place any Viator or Tripadvisor scripts, widgets or cookies in the app.

When you tap a suggestion

The Viator website opens. The link contains our partner code and a campaign code that only shows the app name and language: they let Viator know you came from VistaNarrata, so that it pays us a commission if you book. From then on your data is handled by Viator, independently, under its own privacy policy. We don't receive from Viator any data that identifies you.

Other

If there are no partner suggestions for the area, you may see a banner of ours linking to the Ingen.IA.re website. The picture is hosted on our server and the banner doesn't collect any data. There are no other advertising networks or advertisers.

In the app settings you can turn off suggestions for "food and tastings" and "day trips". Suggestions for guided visits, walking tours and tickets are always on: they are what allows us to offer VistaNarrata for free.

Why we can do this: we have a legitimate interest in funding a free service with suggestions linked to the area, without profiling you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data to anyone. To run VistaNarrata we rely on a few providers. Here is who they are and what they receive.

Aruba S.p.A.Hosts our server, in Italy. Acts on our behalf.
Google Cloud (Vertex AI)Writes the stories. Receives only information about the place to be described, never data about you.
OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim, Overpass API and maps)Tell us which places are around you and which town they are in, and provide the map. Only our server queries them, with the coordinates of the area: they don't receive your IP address or any code that identifies you. For places in Italy we use a copy of the OpenStreetMap data on our own server.
Wikimedia CommonsProvides the pictures of places. Our server downloads and stores them: your phone never contacts Wikimedia and Wikimedia receives no data about you.
ViatorReceives from our server requests for suggestions for an area, with no data about you. It receives your data only if you tap one of its suggestions: from then on it handles it independently.
Public authoritiesOnly when required by law.
Does your data leave the European Union?

Our server is in Italy and the data we collect about you stays there.

Google's artificial intelligence service may process requests outside the European Union too, because the model we use is not yet available in an EU-only configuration. However, it receives only information about the place to be described: no data about you leaves the EU for this.

If you tap a Viator suggestion, the website of Viator opens. Viator is a company of the Tripadvisor group headquartered in the United States and from then on handles your data as an independent controller, with the safeguards described in its privacy policy.

How long we keep data
Precise locationNot stored: used only for the search.
App technical logs30 days.
Firewall logs (blocked traffic)30 days.
Session codeDeleted when you close the app.
Places seen during the sessionOnly until you close the app, on your phone.
Language and preferencesOn your phone, until you delete them.
E-mails you send usAs long as needed to reply, plus 12 months. Privacy requests: 5 years.
Cookies and browser storage

VistaNarrata doesn't set cookies and doesn't use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, or profiling cookies. It only uses browser storage to make the app work. That's why we don't ask for your consent.

Language, favourite categories, groups of commercial suggestionsBrowser local storage (vn_lang, vn_prefs, vn_offer_groups). Kept until you delete it.
Temporary session codeOnly while the app is open. Deleted when you close it.
Places already seenOnly while the app is open. Deleted when you close it.

You can delete this data at any time from your browser settings. If we ever use advertising or analytics cookies, we will ask for your consent first.

Why we can do this: these are technical tools strictly needed for the service you asked for (Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code).

Children

Young people can use VistaNarrata too. Under the age of 14, permission and supervision from a parent or guardian are required.

Your rights

At any time you can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct or delete it;
  • restrict its use or object to its processing;
  • give it to you in a format you can transfer elsewhere.

Write to privacy@ingeniare.it. We reply as soon as possible and in any case within 30 days.

One important thing: VistaNarrata has no accounts and the logs contain nothing that identifies you. So sometimes we have no way of linking data to you. If that happens, we will tell you clearly (Art. 11 GDPR).

If you think something is wrong

Write to us first at privacy@ingeniare.it: we'll try to fix it straight away. You always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of the country where you live.

Changes to this policy

VistaNarrata is growing: in the future we may add an Android app, accounts, premium versions or other features. When something changes that affects your data, we update this page and, where needed, ask for your consent again. The last update date is always shown at the top.
